Report says The CW's proposed spin-off of its teen soap drama will feature the love life of...
When news broke this week about Gossip Girl's potential spin-off, the big question on everyone's mind was: Who is going to be the centerpiece of the show!?!? OMG LOL!?!? The project is still in its early stages, but one report claims to know the truth and says that the new show will focus on...
...Lily and Rufus. WTF? I know, I know, but wait, there's more. It will jump back in time and feature the early romance between Lily and Rufus (also known as Serena and Dan's parents), says the take-it-with-a-grain-of-skepticism Star Magazine.
"The show will focus on the early romance between Lily and Rufus," a source told Star. "It begins when they first meet, during a time when Rufus and his band are at the height of their career. The show will follow the high society and rock 'n' roll lifestyle in New York."
The tabloid also says that no original cast members will be leaving the show and that new actors will be thrown into the spin-off. The show will be introduced via a flashback in a forthcoming Gossip Girl episode.
Umm...OK. This doesn't exactly sound like the right idea for a spin-off. Let's hope producers come to their senses. Let's hold out any real outrage about this until the show is confirmed officially.
Awesome update: As we hoped, E! Online has confirmed with producers that the Star report is bogus!
In a statement, producers said, "Contrary to the rumors and false reports breaking in the tabloids, there is no approved concept and/or confirmation of a Gossip Girl spin-off at this time."
Thank heaven! Now who would like to see their own Gossip Girl spin-off?
